Super-enhanced Nuclear Fusion in Metal-like Systems and in Condensed Plasmas of Supernova Progenitors
Hidetsugu Ikegami
[ PDF ]
Abstract -- In the scheme of chemonuclear reaction, bulk of itinerant s-electrons revealing the thermodynamical liquid activity in metallic systems undergo contact interaction with atomic nuclei and therein nucleons, inducing contagiously thermodynamical liquid activity among the bulk of nuclei under the irreversible action of Nature towards the chemical potential minimum resulting in the united spontaneous, irreversible atomic and nuclear reactions. The chemonuclear reaction, moreover, is enhanced with astronomical figures besides the enhancement of few particle processes (e.g., in the electron-screened pycnonuclear fusion). In the systems of metal-like hydride/deuteride and electron donor mixtures, self-sustained H-H and D-D chemonuclear fusion may take place. In these systems, however, some unforeseen phenomena are induced, e.g., radiation-less fusion and γ-ray missing positron annihilation.

The Nature of the Chemonuclear Reaction

Abstract -- In the chemonuclear reaction, the bulk of itinerant s-electrons revealing thermodynamical liquid activity in metallic systems undergo contact interaction with atomic nuclei and nucleons, thereby inducing contagiously thermodynamical liquid activity among the bulk of nuclei towards the chemical potential minimum, hence the united spontaneous, irreversible ato-
mic and nuclear reactions. The chemonuclear reaction is enhanced with astronomical figures beyond the enhancement of few particle processes (e.g., in the electron-screened pycnonuclear fusion). In the systems of metallike hydride/deuteride and electron donor mixtures, self-sustained H-H and D-D chemonuclear fusion reactions take place. Unforeseen phenomena are observed, e.g., radiationless fusion and γ-ray missingpositron annihilation. In addition, the coherent D2-D2 and D3-D3 fusion reactions take place with enhancement factors over 1020∼ 1030 and 1030∼ 1046 respectively. Through electron density correction on the chemical potential of reactants, the enhancement of chemonuclear fusion approaches to that of enhanced pycnonuclear fusion in astrophysical condensed plasma in the white dwarf progenitors of supernovae. In essence, chemonuclear fusion in condensed matters revealing thermodynamical liquid activity is identical to enhanced pycnonuclear fusion in astrophysical condensed plasma.

Buffer Energy Nuclear Fusion
Hidetsugu Ikegami, et al.
[ PDF ]
Abstract -- A compact scheme of non-thermonuclear fusion is presented. Hydrogen ions are implanted directly from nonthermal discharge plasma or ion source into a surface of liquid Li metal at a buffer energy of a few tens keV where nuclear stopping occurs. The ions interact with Li atoms or mixed element atoms which are not being internally excited and tend towards the formation of united atoms at the minimum Gibbs free energy point. This leads to the enhanced rate of non-thermonuclear fusion of hydrogen ions due to cohesion in the liquid metal.

Reducing Radioactivity in High-Level Waste from Spent Fuel Reprocessing and Core Debris at the Fukushima Daiichi NPP by Muon Cluster Fission Technology
Tadashi Narabayashi, etal.
[ PDF ]
Abstract -- This study utilizes the results of experiments on cluster fission and decay of fissile materials using cosmic ray muons to reduce the radiotoxicity of debris melted and solidified during the severe accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Experiments confirmed that relatively stable radioactive thorium-232 undergoes nuclear transmutation into stable isotopes of lead and magnesium, halting the reaction. When radioactive powder is uniformly mixed with lead oxide and pure metal powder and heated in a thermite reaction, muon-induced cluster fission occurs instantaneously, followed by beta decay and transmutation into stable lead isotopes within a few hours. Radiation levels drop to background levels, and the radioactive material disappears. More than 1000 experiments conducted over 20 years have confirmed that in addition to thorium-232, mixed radioactive isotopes such as uranium dioxide and americium can be simultaneously transmuted and that a proven 100-pound (45 kg) reactor can process approximately 5 kg of radioactive material at a time. This research also includes feasibility studies on a radioactive debris reduction system that combines a robotic cart, a muon reactor, and an air purification system to collect and process debris that melted and solidified after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident.

Chemonuclear Transmutation and Noble Metal Synthesis
Hidetsugu Ikegami, Masako Ikegami
[ PDF ]
Abstract -- In the system of metallike hydride-electron donor mixtures, adsorbed hydrogen atoms are transformed into metallic states and alloyed. Dense itinerary s-electrons supplied by the electron donor cause a drop in the melting point of metallic hydrogen. As a result, this system reveals thermodynamical liquid activity. The coherent D2-D2 fusion and the D3-D3 chemonuclear fusion are enhanced with factors of 20 to 30 and 30 to 46 figures of magnitude respectively at T=460 K, hence the production of intense He ions of 23.8 MeV kinetic energy. The ions or alpha-particles induce enhanced cascade chemonuclear reactions towards diverse and useful element synthesis. This phenomenon is in the nature of the Big Bang nucleosynthesis that takes place in an inhomogeneous universe. An application of the alpha-induced chemonuclear reaction - i.e., the transmutation of 90Sr and 137Cs - is prescribed in this chapter. This system of metallike hydride-electron donor mixtures raises the possibility of radioactive waste vanishment. Stimulated by alpha-particle irradiation, trans-gold nuclei undergo exothermic alpha-cluster emissions, producing coherently line-up alpha-clusters. In the chemonuclear D-D fusion, the 4alpha-cluster reveals the thermodynamical activity of oxygen atoms. In the hydrogen-Ni nanopowder-Li mixtures, dispersively charged trans-gold atoms undergo enhanced chemonuclear alpha-cluster emissions, hence the mass synthesis of noble metals. The case of chemonuclear pion production is presented at the end of this chapter.

JP2011220731 -- NUCLEAR FUSION REACTION DEVICE USING FUSION CHAIN REACTION [ Translation ]
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve chemical nuclear fusion reaction in liquid metal to guarantee the persistence of reaction needed for energy extraction, which is not easily achieved by the chemical nuclear fusion reaction that uses low-speed ions projected onto the surface of liquid metal lithium, which is enhanced in astronomical quantities by thermodynamic effect of linked atomic fusion process, because the chemical nuclear fusion reaction is sensitive to conditions of the metal surface.SOLUTION: A fusion chain reaction is induced by starting nuclear reaction that generates neutrons and charged particles in a liquid lithium alloy in which a light element such as beryllium is mixed. Since, in the present invention, the liquid lithium carries out four functions: as nuclear fusion fuel, solvent for a mixed light element, a neutron moderator, and coolant, the nuclear fusion reaction device can be significantly made simple and compact. In addition, it eliminates the need to worry about radioactive wastes.
JP2009150709 -- METHOD FOR GENERATING LITHIUM CLUSTER CHEMICAL NUCLEAR FUSION AND LITHIUM CLUSTER CHEMICAL NUCLEAR FUSION DEVICE [ Translation ]
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe generator of chemical nuclear fusion energy by solving problems wherein a large part of projection ions does not induce nuclear fusion since the degree of increase in a nuclear fusion reaction is not sufficiently large when causing the chemical nuclear fusion by projecting heavy hydrogen and lithium ions to the surface of liquid metal lithium and the liquid metal lithium is deteriorated by the chemical reaction. <P>SOLUTION: In the lithium cluster chemical nuclear fusion device, a 3-atom ion Li<SB>3</SB><SP>+</SP>of lithium having especially high occurrence efficiency in lithium cluster ions is generated for acceleration from liquid metal lithium by electric field evaporation or PIG-type discharge in a magnetic field and is projected to the liquid metal lithium to induce chemical nuclear fusion in its large part, thus breaking a chemical reaction interfering with the nuclear fusion reaction. A reaction vessel is turned into a shape and a structure for miniaturization so that secondary and tertiary nuclear reactions are induced without losing the radiation of low-speed neutrons, or the like generated by chemical nuclear fusion, thus taking out energy safely and stably.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the nuclear fusion enhancement effect is counteracted by a degradation of metal lithium due to the competing occurrence of chemical reactions generating lithium hydride in a liquid target though a reaction rate is enhanced by 10<SP>10</SP>or more times by thermodynamic force in a liquid in a chemical fusion reaction where deuterons or a proton beam with an energy of a few keV per atomic mass unit of around 10 keV per nucleon is injected into the liquid target of fused metal lithium. <P>SOLUTION: In order to exclude the competing chemical reactions in this invention, the inner surface of a reaction tank is covered with neutron absorbers such as metal lithium and boron or compounds of lithium and boron and ions of an inactive gas evolved through the electrical discharge in the reaction tank or molecular ions with light deuterium are injected into the liquid target made of fusion materials composed mainly of fused metal lithium. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem that fusion promotion effect is suppressed in a chemical fusion injecting deuteron or proton beam of energy of 50 keV or less per nuclide in liquid target of molten metal lithium because a chemical fusion reaction producing lithium hydride in the liquid competes, though a reaction rate increases to 10<SP>13</SP>times or more by a thermodynamic force in the liquid. <P>SOLUTION: For avoiding the competing chemical reaction, lithium ion extracted out of an ion source or accelerating lithium ion generated by discharge in the reaction tank is injected onto the surface of liquid target such as molten metal lithium or lithium alloy and the like, the problem is resolved by inducing chemical fusion reaction which increases due to thermodynamic force in the liquid target.
