Abstract -- The evolution of consciousness is a neglected topic that plays a surprisingly insignificant role in all major theories of consciousness. Furthermore, substantial disagreements can be observed in the dominant views on the neural correlates of consciousness (NCCs), which focus too much on cortical brain regions. In order to dissolve some of the contradictions among these views and to constrain the rival theories, we propose to distinguish three core phenomena of phenomenal consciousness: basic arousal, general alertness and reflexive (self-)consciousness. The central aim is to show that we can fruitfully distinguish specific functions for each of the three phenomena. Basic arousal has the function to alarm the body and secure survival by intervening in the slow updating of homeostatic processes. General alertness fosters advanced learning and decision-making processes, enabling various new behavioural strategies to deal with challenges, and reflexive (self-)consciousness enables future-directed long-term planning, accounting for the mindset of oneself and other agents. Constraining our contemporary theories of consciousness with this evolutionary and functional approach will enable the science of consciousness to make progress by accounting for three specific functions of consciousness, thereby informing the search for distinct an NCC.

Fluid Simulation on Vortex Particle Flow Maps

We propose the Vortex Particle Flow Map (VPFM) method to simulate incompressible flow with complex vortical evolution in the presence of dynamic solid boundaries. The core insight of our approach is that vorticity is an ideal quantity for evolution on particle flow maps, enabling significantly longer flow map distances compared to other fluid quantities like velocity or impulse. To achieve this goal, we developed a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian representation that evolves vorticity and flow map quantities on vortex particles, while reconstructing velocity on a background grid. The method integrates three key components: (1) a vorticity-based particle flow map framework, (2) an accurate Hessian evolution scheme on particles, and (3) a solid boundary treatment for no-through and no-slip conditions in VPFM. These components collectively allow a substantially longer flow map length (3-12 times longer) than the state-of-the-art, enhancing vorticity preservation over extended spatiotemporal domains. We validated the performance of VPFM through diverse simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness in capturing complex vortex dynamics and turbulence phenomena.

Abstract -- Rare earth elements (REEs) are critical metals for clean energy and high-tech applications, yet their supply faces environmental and geopolitical challenges. Phytomining, a green strategy using hyperaccumulator plants to extract metals from soil, offers potential for sustainable REE supply but remains underexplored. Here, we report the discovery of naturally formed nanoscale monazite in the fern Blechnum orientale, a REE hyperaccumulator plant. These REE minerals crystallize within extracellular tissues under ambient conditions, forming dendritic nanocrystals through biologically induced mineralization coupled with a non-equilibrium self-organization process. This represents the novel discovery of REE mineral crystals formed in living plants through a phytomineralization (i.e., plant-mediated mineralization) process. Our findings uncover a previously unrecognized, plant-mediated pathway for critical mineral formation in a supergene environment. This discovery not only sheds light on REE enrichment and sequestration during chemical and biological weathering but also opens new possibilities for the direct recovery of functional REE materials. This work substantiates the feasibility of phytomining and introduces an innovative, plant-based approach for sustainable REE resource development.

When a perturbed periodic oscillation dephases, the system edits it to retrieve the original clock. The inherent clock born during retrieval is the time crystal. Time crystals have been explored for five decades, and only one inherent clock was detected in biological and artificial systems. Only one type of atom is used in those time crystals, but two or more atom types would lead to multi-functional and programmable time crystals. No such concept was ever conceived. Here, we demonstrate a multi-clock time crystal or a polyatomic time crystal in the brain neuron-extracted microtubule nanowire using dielectric resonance and quantum optics experiments. Earlier, one used to artificially reset the phase of an inherent clock to find a time crystal. Instead, we map how a biomaterial spontaneously generates distinct new clocks at many time domains at a time. We observe multiple time-symmetry-breaking events at a time. Moreover, unlike conventional time crystal research, we searched for polyatomic time crystals at least 103 orders lower than the excitation frequency region. Conventional time crystals could be rejected, arguing that inherent clocks born after the breaking of time symmetry are harmonics of the external input, and such an argument will not hold for us. Moreover, quantum experiments revealed a method to synthesize and fuse distinct clocks in one hologram as a polyatomic time crystal and project it like an antenna meters away. The discovery of material-like holographic engineering of polyatomic time crystals would make them useful.

Abstract -- Big data or data overflow problem is due to century-old wrong information theory practiced even today that believes every single event that has happened, is happening, and will happen in the universe could be recreated as sum of simple events. We say, events are connected by geometric shapes, e.g., eight points of a cube represent eight events; to integrate events, either one places new geometric shapes inside any of the eight points, or consider entire cube as a single point located in a new giant geometric shape. Brain has no algorithm running, how does it make decision? Making a decision by building a scientific theory means predicting future from a given set of events; here, we propose to do that by using a pattern of all possible choices a given set of events could be grouped. This pattern is like space–time metric of astrophysics. When we convert any event into a 3D topological shape changing with time, those shapes are fed into this pattern of event-groups namely, phase prime metric. The output is another changing shape that links all possible unknown patterns that could happen in future; so, without any algorithm we can analyze big data and run a robot. We reject Turing’s machine. For frequency fractal computing using time crystal, information is not “bit,” but a unique time crystal, which is life-like. These crystals holding geometric shape self-assemble to create a clocking topology of phase. To convert information into a 3D geometric structure it follows our phase prime metric. Phase structure changes continuously, sometimes it is manifested as dynamics of mass, spin foam, string, tube etc. Thus, time crystal based brain-like computer of makes a decision using phase prime metric.

ABSTRACT -- In 1907, Lapicque proposed that an electric field passes through the neuronal membrane and transmits a signal. Subsequently, a “snake curve” or spike was used to depict the means by which a linear flat current undergoes a sudden Gaussian or Laplacian peak. This concept has been the accepted scenario for more than 115 years even appearing in textbooks on the subject. It was not noted that the membrane spike should have a cylindrical shape. A nerve spike having a dot shape on membrane surface cannot propagate through a cylindrical surface since it would dissipate instantaneously. A nerve spike should have the appearance of a ring, encompassing the diameter of a cylindrical axon or dendron. However, this subtle change has remarkable implications. Maintaining a circular form of an electric field is not easy, especially at the surface of an organic object. Here, we suggest that neuroscience could redefine itself if we accept that a nerve spike is not a localized 3D Gaussian or Laplacian wave packet, rather it is a 3D ring encompassing the diameter of a neural branch.

Abstract -- The evolution of consciousness is a neglected topic that plays a surprisingly insignificant role in all major theories of consciousness. Furthermore, substantial disagreements can be observed in the dominant views on the neural correlates of consciousness (NCCs), which focus too much on cortical brain regions. In order to dissolve some of the contradictions among these views and to constrain the rival theories, we propose to distinguish three core phenomena of phenomenal consciousness: basic arousal, general alertness and reflexive (self-)consciousness. The central aim is to show that we can fruitfully distinguish specific functions for each of the three phenomena. Basic arousal has the function to alarm the body and secure survival by intervening in the slow updating of homeostatic processes. General alertness fosters advanced learning and decision-making processes, enabling various new behavioural strategies to deal with challenges, and reflexive (self-)consciousness enables future-directed long-term planning, accounting for the mindset of oneself and other agents. Constraining our contemporary theories of consciousness with this evolutionary and functional approach will enable the science of consciousness to make progress by accounting for three specific functions of consciousness, thereby informing the search for distinct an NCC.

We propose the Vortex Particle Flow Map (VPFM) method to simulate incompressible flow with complex vortical evolution in the presence of dynamic solid boundaries. The core insight of our approach is that vorticity is an ideal quantity for evolution on particle flow maps, enabling significantly longer flow map distances compared to other fluid quantities like velocity or impulse. To achieve this goal, we developed a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian representation that evolves vorticity and flow map quantities on vortex particles, while reconstructing velocity on a background grid. The method integrates three key components: (1) a vorticity-based particle flow map framework, (2) an accurate Hessian evolution scheme on particles, and (3) a solid boundary treatment for no-through and no-slip conditions in VPFM. These components collectively allow a substantially longer flow map length (3-12 times longer) than the state-of-the-art, enhancing vorticity preservation over extended spatiotemporal domains. We validated the performance of VPFM through diverse simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness in capturing complex vortex dynamics and turbulence phenomena.

Abstract -- Rare earth elements (REEs) are critical metals for clean energy and high-tech applications, yet their supply faces environmental and geopolitical challenges. Phytomining, a green strategy using hyperaccumulator plants to extract metals from soil, offers potential for sustainable REE supply but remains underexplored. Here, we report the discovery of naturally formed nanoscale monazite in the fern Blechnum orientale, a REE hyperaccumulator plant. These REE minerals crystallize within extracellular tissues under ambient conditions, forming dendritic nanocrystals through biologically induced mineralization coupled with a non-equilibrium self-organization process. This represents the novel discovery of REE mineral crystals formed in living plants through a phytomineralization (i.e., plant-mediated mineralization) process. Our findings uncover a previously unrecognized, plant-mediated pathway for critical mineral formation in a supergene environment. This discovery not only sheds light on REE enrichment and sequestration during chemical and biological weathering but also opens new possibilities for the direct recovery of functional REE materials. This work substantiates the feasibility of phytomining and introduces an innovative, plant-based approach for sustainable REE resource development.

When a perturbed periodic oscillation dephases, the system edits it to retrieve the original clock. The inherent clock born during retrieval is the time crystal. Time crystals have been explored for five decades, and only one inherent clock was detected in biological and artificial systems. Only one type of atom is used in those time crystals, but two or more atom types would lead to multi-functional and programmable time crystals. No such concept was ever conceived. Here, we demonstrate a multi-clock time crystal or a polyatomic time crystal in the brain neuron-extracted microtubule nanowire using dielectric resonance and quantum optics experiments. Earlier, one used to artificially reset the phase of an inherent clock to find a time crystal. Instead, we map how a biomaterial spontaneously generates distinct new clocks at many time domains at a time. We observe multiple time-symmetry-breaking events at a time. Moreover, unlike conventional time crystal research, we searched for polyatomic time crystals at least 103 orders lower than the excitation frequency region. Conventional time crystals could be rejected, arguing that inherent clocks born after the breaking of time symmetry are harmonics of the external input, and such an argument will not hold for us. Moreover, quantum experiments revealed a method to synthesize and fuse distinct clocks in one hologram as a polyatomic time crystal and project it like an antenna meters away. The discovery of material-like holographic engineering of polyatomic time crystals would make them useful.

Abstract -- Big data or data overflow problem is due to century-old wrong information theory practiced even today that believes every single event that has happened, is happening, and will happen in the universe could be recreated as sum of simple events. We say, events are connected by geometric shapes, e.g., eight points of a cube represent eight events; to integrate events, either one places new geometric shapes inside any of the eight points, or consider entire cube as a single point located in a new giant geometric shape. Brain has no algorithm running, how does it make decision? Making a decision by building a scientific theory means predicting future from a given set of events; here, we propose to do that by using a pattern of all possible choices a given set of events could be grouped. This pattern is like space–time metric of astrophysics. When we convert any event into a 3D topological shape changing with time, those shapes are fed into this pattern of event-groups namely, phase prime metric. The output is another changing shape that links all possible unknown patterns that could happen in future; so, without any algorithm we can analyze big data and run a robot. We reject Turing’s machine. For frequency fractal computing using time crystal, information is not “bit,” but a unique time crystal, which is life-like. These crystals holding geometric shape self-assemble to create a clocking topology of phase. To convert information into a 3D geometric structure it follows our phase prime metric. ABSTRACT -- In 1907, Lapicque proposed that an electric field passes through the neuronal membrane and transmits a signal. Subsequently, a “snake curve” or spike was used to depict the means by which a linear flat current undergoes a sudden Gaussian or Laplacian peak. This concept has been the accepted scenario for more than 115 years even appearing in textbooks on the subject. It was not noted that the membrane spike should have a cylindrical shape. A nerve spike having a dot shape on membrane surface cannot propagate through a cylindrical surface since it would dissipate instantaneously. A nerve spike should have the appearance of a ring, encompassing the diameter of a cylindrical axon or dendron. However, this subtle change has remarkable implications. Maintaining a circular form of an electric field is not easy, especially at the surface of an organic object. Here, we suggest that neuroscience could redefine itself if we accept that a nerve spike is not a localized 3D Gaussian or Laplacian wave packet, rather it is a 3D ring encompassing the diameter of a neural branch.
