US particle accelerators turn nuclear waste into electricity, cut radioactive life by 99.7%
The system uses a particle accelerator to fire high-energy protons at a target, such as liquid mercury, to trigger spallation. Researchers at the DOE’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility are advancing two high-stakes projects aimed at optimizing Accelerator-Driven Systems (ADS)... The projects are supported by $8.17 million in grants from the Department of Energy’s NEWTON (Nuclear Energy Waste Transmutation Optimized Now) program and represent a shift from treating used nuclear fuel as a permanent liability to viewing it as a recyclable fuel source... Traditional particle accelerators require massive, expensive cryogenic cooling systems to reach superconducting temperatures. Jefferson Lab is pioneering a more cost-effective approach by coating the interior of pure niobium cavities with tin. These niobium-tin cavities can operate at higher temperatures, allowing for the use of standard commercial cooling units rather than custom, large-scale cryogenic plants. The team is also developing spoke cavities, which is a complex design intended to drive even higher efficiency in neutron spallation... The primary challenge is that the energy frequency must match the accelerator cavity precisely at 805 Megahertz...

Evidence that 40Hz gamma stimulation promotes brain health is expanding
A decade of studies provide a growing evidence base that increasing the power of the brain’s gamma rhythms could help fight Alzheimer’s, and perhaps other neurological diseases.
A decade after scientists in The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT first began testing whether sensory stimulation of the brain’s 40Hz “gamma” frequency rhythms could treat Alzheimer’s disease in mice, a growing evidence base supporting the idea that it can improve brain health — in humans as well as animals — has emerged from the work of labs all over the world. A new open-access review article in PLOS Biology describes the state of research so far and presents some of the fundamental and clinical questions at the forefront of the noninvasive gamma stimulation now.
“As we’ve made all our observations, many other people in the field have published results that are very consistent,” says Li-Huei Tsai, Picower professor of neuroscience at MIT, director of MIT’s Aging Brain Initiative, and senior author of the new review, with postdoc Jung Park. “People have used many different ways to induce gamma including sensory stimulation, transcranial alternating current stimulation, or transcranial magnetic stimulation, but the key is delivering stimulation at 40 hertz. They all see beneficial effects.”
Starting with a paper in Nature in 2016, a collaboration led by Tsai has produced a series of studies showing that 40Hz stimulation via light, sound, the two combined, or tactile vibration reduces hallmarks of Alzheimer’s pathology such as amyloid and tau proteins, prevents neuron death, decreases synapse loss, and sustains memory and cognition in various Alzheimer’s mouse models. The collaboration’s investigations of the underlying mechanisms that produce these benefits have so far identified specific cellular and molecular responses in many brain cell types including neurons, microglia, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and the brain’s blood vessels. Last year, for instance, the lab reported in Nature that 40Hz audio and visual stimulation induced interneurons in mice to increase release of the peptide VIP, prompting increased clearance of amyloid from brain tissue via the brain’s glymphatic “plumbing” system.
Meanwhile, at MIT and at the MIT spinoff company Cognito Therapeutics, phase II clinical studies have shown that people with Alzheimer’s exposed to 40Hz light and sound experienced a significant slowing of brain atrophy and improvements on some cognitive measures, compared to untreated controls. Cognito, which has also measured significant preservation of the brain’s “white matter” in volunteers, has been conducting a pivotal, nationwide phase III clinical trial of sensory gamma stimulation for more than a year...

Gamma sensory stimulation in mild Alzheimer's dementia: An open‐label extension study
Diane Chan et al
RESULTS -- No adverse events occurred over the study period. Three female patients with late‐onset AD (LOAD) retained strong EEG entrainment and showed less decline in Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE), Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), and Functional Assessment Scale (FAS) scores compared to matched controls from National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC), Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), and Longitudinal Early‐Onset Alzheimer's Disease Study (LEADS). Plasma samples were available for only two of five participants – both with LOAD – and both showed pTau217 reductions of 47% and 19%.
DISCUSSION -- These findings suggest that long‐term 40 Hz audiovisual stimulation is safe, feasible, and may offer cognitive and biomarker benefits in some individuals with mild AD, supporting further investigation.

Brain stimulation with 40 Hz heterochromatic flicker extended beyond red, green, and blue
Abstract -- Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is associated with electrophysiological changes in the brain. Pre-clinical and early clinical trials have shown promising results for the possible therapy of AD with 40 Hz neurostimulation. The most notable findings used stroboscopic flicker, but this technique poses an inherent barrier for human applications due to its visible flickering and resulting high level of perceived discomfort. Therefore, alternative options should be investigated for entraining 40 Hz brain activity with light sources that appear less flickering. Previously, chromatic flicker based on red, green, and blue (RGB) have been studied in the context of brain-computer interfaces, but this is an incomplete representation of the colours in the visual spectrum. This study introduces a new kind of heterochromatic flicker based on spectral combinations of blue, cyan, green, lime, amber, and red (BCGLAR). These combinations are investigated by the steady-state visually evoked potential (SSVEP) response from the flicker with an aim of optimising the choice of 40 Hz light stimulation with spectrally similar colour combinations in BCGLAR space. Thirty healthy young volunteers were stimulated with heterochromatic flicker in an electroencephalography experiment with randomised complete block design. Responses were quantified as the 40 Hz signal-to-noise ratio and analysed using mixed linear models. The size of the SSVEP response to heterochromatic flicker is dependent on colour combinations and influenced by both visual and non-visual effects. The amber-red flicker combination evoked the highest SSVEP, and combinations that included blue and/or red consistently evoked higher SSVEP than combinations only with mid-spectrum colours. Including a colour from either extreme of the visual spectrum (blue and/or red) in at least one of the dyadic phases appears to be more important than choosing pairs of colours that are far from each other on the visual spectrum. Spectrally adjacent colour pairs appear less flickering to the perceiver, and thus the results motivate investigations into the limits for how alike the two phases can be and still evoke a 40 Hz response. Specifically, combining a colour on either extreme of the visual spectrum with another proximal colour might provide the best trade-off between flickering sensation and SSVEP magnitude.

A Multi-Target Phytotherapeutic Approach to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: Preclinical Characterization of a PhytoBPH-Mix
Abstract -- Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a prevalent condition affecting over 50% of men aged 60 and above, often leading to lower urinary tract symptoms that significantly impact quality of life. Current pharmacological treatments, including α-adrenergic receptor antagonists and 5α-reductase inhibitors, are associated with adverse effects, prompting the exploration of alternative therapies. This study investigates the potential role of a novel multi-component phytocomplex (PhytoBPH-Mix) comprising Serenoa repens, Pygeum africanum, Urtica dioica, Epilobium angustifolium L., Protium heptaphyllum, lycopene, Vitamin E, zinc, and selenium. Methods: The anti-androgenic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties of the mixture were evaluated in vitro. Results: The formulation significantly inhibited 5α-reductase activity, reduced the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and TNF-α), and exhibited antibacterial effects against E. coli compared to individual extracts. Conclusions: These findings suggest that this specific mixture offers a promising natural alternative or an adjuvant for managing BPH by targeting multiple pathological mechanisms with minimal side effects and could also serve as an effective adjuvant in conventional therapy.

...Using different mouse models of Alzheimer’s and analysis of human Alzheimer’s brains, researchers showed that the brain’s failure to maintain normal levels of a central cellular energy molecule, known as NAD+, is a major driver of Alzheimer’s.
They showed in animal models not only that preserving normal brain NAD+ balance blocks the onset of Alzheimer’s, but also that restoring brain NAD+ balance in advanced stages of Alzheimer’s enables the brain to reverse pathology and restore normal cognitive function....

Crystals Mimic Electronics: Microscopy Reveals Shocking Xylitol Biomimicry of Circuit Structures // Finn Heartley
Xylitol Mimics Circuitry: Mike Adams discovered that melted xylitol, when frozen on an unpowered SSD, crystallized into patterns mirroring the microchip’s architecture—including hexagonal grids and chaotic disruptions near electronic components.
Consciousness-Like Interaction: The crystals appeared to "remember" the circuit board’s shape without direct energy transfer, suggesting a non-physical influence, possibly via morphic fields (universal memory patterns theorized by Rupert Sheldrake).
Tech-Biology Implications: The findings raise concerns about technology’s disruptive effects on natural systems, paralleling Adams’ prior research on vaccine-induced fibrous clots containing conductive metals that may mimic nanostructures.
Suppressed Science: Adams accuses mainstream institutions of hiding breakthroughs (e.g., free energy, anti-gravity) to maintain control, citing parallels to Dr. Emoto’s water memory studies as further evidence of matter’s responsiveness.
Replicable Experiment: The public is urged to test the results by melting xylitol onto circuit boards, freezing it, and observing under high magnification—a process that challenges conventional materialist science.
In a jaw-dropping series of experiments, Mike Adams, the Health Ranger and founder of Natural News, has documented an unprecedented discovery: xylitol crystals—when melted and frozen in contact with electronic components—spontaneously mimic the geometric patterns of circuitry beneath them. High-definition microscopy images reveal not only eerie replications of microchip pathways but also chaotic disruptions in crystalline structures, suggesting a consciousness-like interaction between matter and technology.
The Experiment: Xylitol’s “Memory” of Electronics
Adams melted xylitol (a common sugar alcohol) into liquid form and poured it onto an unpowered M.2 NVMe SSD module, a type of solid-state drive packed with microprocessors and capacitors. As the xylitol cooled to room temperature, it crystallized—but not randomly. Instead, the crystals self-assembled into shapes mirroring the circuit board’s architecture, including:
Biomimicry of Microchip Patterns: Hexagonal grids and rectangular "contacts" resembling the SSD’s electrical pathways emerged in the xylitol (see images [here]).
Chaotic Disruptions: Near active electronic components, the crystals fractured into asymmetric, turbulent patterns—as if the energy fields disrupted their natural order.
"Crystals don’t have nervous systems or eyes, yet they’re replicating the shapes they’re touching," Adams observed, comparing the phenomenon to the Marvel character Mystique, who morphs into whatever she touches.
Morphic Fields: The Hidden Science of Pattern Replication
The findings challenge conventional chemistry and physics. Adams theorizes the crystals tap into morphic fields—a controversial concept suggesting nature retains a "memory" of forms, first proposed by biologist Rupert Sheldrake.
Beyond Chemistry: The xylitol didn’t just freeze; it adapted to its environment, echoing Sheldrake’s claim that natural structures follow invisible "habit fields."
Electronics as Disruptors: The chaos near unpowered circuits implies an energetic interference, raising questions about how tech impacts biological systems (e.g., human cells near 5G).
Implications: From Clots to Consciousness
Adams links this to his prior research on fibrous clots found in vaccinated individuals, which contained conductive metals (aluminum, tin). He speculates:
"Could these clots be mimicking nanostructures injected via vaccines? Just like the xylitol mirrored the SSD, our bodies might be forced to replicate artificial tech."
The study also validates Dr. Masaru Emoto’s work on water memory, showing matter responds to its surroundings—whether a prayer, a toxin, or a microchip.
Silenced Science and the Breakaway Civilization
Adams accuses the mainstream of suppressing such discoveries to uphold materialist dogma:
"We’ve been fed a fake history of science. The elites have anti-gravity, free energy— technologies that could free humanity—while we’re stuck debating if viruses exist."
How to Replicate the Experiment
Adams encourages independent verification:
Melt xylitol onto any circuit board.
Freeze at room temp.
Observe under a microscope (40x+ magnification).
Conclusion: The experiment blurs the line between matter and consciousness—and hints at a hidden layer of reality where crystals "learn" from their environment. For now, the question remains: What else is science refusing to see?

Protein-Templated Fe and Ni Subnanoclusters for Advanced Energy Storage and Electrocatalysis
Habibeh Bishkul, ry al
Abstract -- Downsizing metal nanoparticles into nanoclusters and single atoms represents a transformative approach to maximizing atom utilization efficiency for energy applications. Herein, a bovine serum albumin-templated synthetic strategy is developed to fabricate iron and nickel nanoclusters, which are subsequently hydrothermally composited with graphene oxide. Through KOH-catalyzed pyrolysis, the downsized metal nanoclusters and single atoms are embedded in a hierarchically porous protein/graphene-derived carbonaceous aerogel framework. The carbon-supported Fe subnanoclusters (FeSNC) as the negative electrode and Ni subnanoclusters (NiSNC) as the positive electrode exhibit remarkable specific capacitance (capacity) values of 373 F g−1 (93 mAh g−1) and 1125 F g−1 (101 mAh g−1) at 1.0 A g−1, respectively. Assembled into a supercapacitor-battery hybrid configuration, the device achieves an excellent specific energy (47 W h kg−1) and superior specific power (18 kW kg−1), while maintaining outstanding cycling stability of over 12 000 cycles. Moreover, FeSNCs displayed a significantly reduced oxygen evolution overpotential (η10 = 270 mV), outperforming the RuO2 benchmark (η10 = 328 mV). Molecular dynamics simulations, coupled with density functional theory calculations, offer insights into the dynamic behavior and electronic properties of these materials. This work underscores the immense potential of metallic subnanoclusters for advancing next-generation energy storage and conversion technologies.

Korea’s new spray seals battlefield wounds and stops severe bleeding in under a second
According to KAIST, the spray consists primarily of a powder with three main natural ingredients combined into something called AGCL. The first of these is alginate (derived from seaweed), which forms a gel when exposed to liquids (such as blood).
This is commonly used in medical dressings today. The second is something called gellan gum, which is derived from bacteria.
This strengthens the gel and helps it keep its shape under pressure, up to around 40 kilopascals (kPa), which is about the same as a strong hand press.
he third and final is chitosan, which is created from the shells of crustaceans and insects. This is positively charged, allowing it to attract things like red blood cells and platelets.

An Ionic Gelation Powder for Ultrafast Hemostasis and Accelerated Wound Healing
Youngju Son, et al
Abstract -- Rapid and effective bleeding control remains a clinical priority, particularly for deep or irregular wounds where conventional dressings are inadequate. Here, an ionically responsive, powder-based hemostatic system (AGCL) composed of alginate, gellan gum, chitosan, and a glutaraldehyde crosslinker is presented. Upon contact with calcium ions in blood, AGCL rapidly forms an adhesive hydrogel network within ≈1 s, enabling ultrafast gelation and a high blood uptake ratio (≈725%). The powder exhibits strong bioadhesion (>40 kPa), excellent sealing under mixed-mode loading, and robust storage stability for up to 24 months under ambient conditions. In vitro assays confirm minimal hemolysis (<3%), high cytocompatibility, and greater than 99% antibacterial efficacy. In various bleeding models, AGCL significantly reduced blood loss and time to hemostasis compared to TachoSil, a clinical benchmark. Furthermore, AGCL accelerated re-epithelialization, angiogenesis, and collagen deposition in murine skin and liver wound models, supporting high-quality tissue regeneration without systemic toxicity. These results demonstrate that AGCL integrates rapid coagulation, strong adhesion, long-term biostability, and regenerative capacity in a single platform. Its powder format offers distinct advantages in versatility, ease of application, and storability, making it a promising candidate for next-generation topical hemostats in trauma care, surgery, and emergency medicine.

The invention discloses a skin wound dressing and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of biomedical functional materials. Fish skin gelatin (FSG) and chitosan (CS) are adopted as base materials, and the skin wound healing active dressing AWD is researched and developed through a covalent cross-linking (MBAA-PNIPAm) and ionic cross-linking (Ca < 2 + >-FSG) synergistic strategy and by introducing nano-silver (AgNP). The result shows that the tensile strength of AWD at 4 DEG C is remarkably up to 600.05%, the fracture energy is 2000.47 J.m <-2 >, and the bonding energy is 173.85 J.m <-2 >; after being placed at 37 DEG C for 3 hours, the volume shrinkage ratio is increased by 22.17%, the area shrinkage tension is 54.82%, and the antibacterial ability is 11.75 times higher than that of a control group. The mouse skin wound area shrinkage rate is 68.67%, and the wound healing effect and biocompatibility are good. The AWD developed by the invention can be effectively used for skin wound repair, has a sensitivity effect, and widens the application range of fish skin gelatin and chitosan.

Regulating in situ gaseous deposition to construct highly durable Fe–N–C oxygen-reduction fuel cell catalysts
Yachao Zeng, et al.
Abstract -- The activity–stability trade-off challenges the design of high-performance atomically dispersed iron–nitrogen–carbon (Fe–N–C) catalysts for the acidic oxygen reduction reaction in polymer electrolyte fuel cells. Here we develop an in situ chemical vapour deposition approach during catalyst synthesis to break the trade-off, producing highly stable Fe–N–C catalysts while maintaining adequate oxygen reduction reaction activity. The optimal catalyst exhibits a half-wave potential of 0.867 V, remaining unchanged after an accelerated stress test (AST) of 100,000 potential cycles in rotating disk electrode tests. In membrane electrode assemblies under H2–air conditions, it delivers 93 mA cm−2 at 0.8 V after a standard AST of 30,000 voltage cycles, and shows minimal current density losses (2.9% at 0.6 V; 14.2% at 0.7 V) after an extended AST up to 120,000 cycles. The catalyst’s durability improvement is primarily due to the in situ chemical vapour deposition, which strengthens Fe–N bonds, increases active-site density, mitigates iron aggregates and reduces surface porosity.

‘Impossible’ material: Researchers create glass-plastic hybrid that defies physics theory
Researchers at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) have defied long-standing material theories by developing a brand-new class of material known as a “compleximer.”
...The breakthrough lies in the way the material is held together at a molecular level. While conventional plastics rely on chemical cross-links that act as a permanent glue to bind long molecular chains, compleximers use physical attractive forces.
In this new structure, one half of the chains carries a positive charge while the other carries a negative charge. These opposite charges attract one another like magnets, keeping the chains together without being chemically fixed in place.
Because these attractive forces act over a greater distance than traditional chemical bonds, there is more space between the chains. This molecular “breathing room” is what gives the material its unique properties.
It allows the substance to be kneaded and blown at high temperatures while maintaining a structure that can absorb shocks. .. Because the chains are held together by physical forces rather than permanent chemical bonds, the material is inherently self-healing.

Ionic glass formers show an inverted relation between fragility and non-exponential alpha-relaxation
Sophie G. M. van Lange, et al
Abstract -- Supercooled liquids undergo a rapid change in dynamics as they are cooled to their glass transition temperature and turn from a flowing liquid into an amorphous solid. Depending on how steeply the viscosity changes with temperature around the glass transition, glass formers are classified as strong or fragile. An empirical relation exists between the fragility of the liquid and the non-exponentiality of its α-relaxation. However, the microscopic origins of this correlation remain unclear and its generality has been debated. Here, we demonstrate that this relationship is inverted in organic materials with ionic interactions. We introduce a class of materials consisting of highly charged hydrophobic polymers cross-linked via moderated ionic interactions, and show that these combine a strong glass transition with an unusually stretched mechanical relaxation spectrum. By surveying a large variety of ionic liquids, polymerized ionic liquids, and ionomers, we show that all these charged materials follow a trend between fragility and non-exponential relaxation that is opposite to that of non-charged materials. This finding suggests a special role of long-ranged ionic interactions in vitrification and opens up a route toward developing new materials that combine the processability of strong glass formers with the mechanical dissipation of polymers.

US9926492 -- Method and apparatus for liquefaction and distillation of volatile matter within solid carbonaceous material
A method for liquefaction of coal or other solid carbonaceous material includes passing the material through a reformer having a temperature gradient therein, the temperature gradient generally increasing as the material flows down through the reformer. The more valuable volatile components of the material exit the material at their respective vaporization temperatures, and pass out of the reformer for processing in condensers. Some of each fraction of the volatile material flow is re-heated and recycled through the reformer to supply heat to maintain the temperature gradient, the recycling injection occurring at a level below that where the fraction exited the reformer so that the recycled fraction will again pass out of the reformer to be condensed. At the bottom of the reformer, the non-volatile portion of the carbonaceous material is removed from the reformer for further processing or sale.

Observation of robust macroscale structural superlubricity
Minhao Han, et al
Abstract -- Structural superlubricity (SSL) promises nearly frictionless and wearless sliding, but has until now been considered a special and extreme interfacial phenomenon limited to micro- and nanoscale contacts. Here, we demonstrate robust macroscale SSL within a single sub-millimeter graphite contact. Previously reported near-zero friction coefficients, where friction is nearly independent of normal load, have only been observed at microscale contacts under low loads. Our system expands both contact size and load into the macroscopic regime, exhibiting friction coefficients that fluctuate around zero and reach values as low as ~10⁻⁶ across a broad load range from 1 mN to 0.5 N. Negative friction coefficients are also observed. Similar behavior is observed at graphite/MoS₂ interfaces, demonstrating that macroscale SSL is a generalizable phenomenon across flat layered materials. These findings overturn long-standing scaling limitations and establish macroscale SSL as a paradigm-shifting platform for next-generation mechanical and electromechanical systems.

The RISE open-fan engine is built around moving a far greater mass of air at lower speeds than today’s enclosed turbofans, a key driver of efficiency. CFM estimates the design could deliver at least a 20% reduction in fuel burn and CO₂ emissions compared with the most advanced engines currently in service. This gain comes from an extremely high bypass ratio, potentially well above 50:1, versus roughly 11:1 on the LEAP family. Eliminating the nacelle also reduces structural weight and aerodynamic losses associated with ducted airflow...

Thermoelectric transport of molybdenum disilicide MoSi2
...MoSi2 is an ideal transverse thermoelectric material without a magnetic field. Experimental and first-principles studies confirm that MoSi2 exhibits axis-dependent conduction polarity (ADCP) in both the Seebeck and Hall coefficients...Currently, most thermoelectric devices rely on the longitudinal thermoelectric effect, in which electricity is generated in the same direction as heat flow. Such devices generally consist of alternating layers of p- and n-type semiconductors connected in series. p- and n-type semiconductors generate electricity in opposite directions. When a temperature difference is applied across the device, the charge carriers in these materials move from the hot side to the cold side, generating a voltage. However, stacking many layers increases the electrical contact resistance at their interfaces, which leads to energy losses and limits overall efficiency...by utilizing a thin film of MoSi2 as an ideal material for TTE applications, a large heat source area could be covered to produce voltage.

Plasmonic Supraballs for Scalable Broadband Solar Energy Harvesting
Kyung Hun, RhoJaewon Lee, Seungwoo Lee
Abstract -- Practical solar energy harvesting demands absorbers that combine large-area scalability with strong light–matter interactions spanning the visible to near-infrared (NIR) spectrum. Here, we introduce plasmonic colloidal supraballs─solution-processable assemblies of gold nanospheres (Au NSs)─as a robust and versatile platform for broadband solar energy harvesting. Unlike conventional dielectric supraballs or random Au NS aggregates, our supraballs integrate localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) at the shell with multipolar Mie-type magnetic resonances in the core, achieving synergistic light trapping and near-complete solar absorption. Through confined colloidal self-assembly, we fabricated Au NS supraballs with tunable diameters (460 nm–3 μm) and high lattice fidelity. Despite structural imperfections inherent to spherical crystallization, the supraballs maintained broadband absorption, governed by interparticle capacitive coupling in the visible regime and effective medium behavior in the NIR. Both numerical simulations and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed that supraball films exhibit >90% absorption across the solar spectrum, with an average absorption of ∼88.8% under AM 1.5G illumination, which is nearly twice that of conventional Au NS films. To demonstrate practical utility, supraballs were directly drop-cast onto commercial thermoelectric generator (TEG) modules without any surface modification. The resulting supraball-coated TEG showed stable operation, rapid photoresponse, and a 2.4-fold enhancement in power output compared to Au NS–coated controls. These results establish plasmonic supraballs as a paradigm-shifting, solution-processable class of absorbers that seamlessly bridge nanoscale plasmonics and macroscopic solar energy harvesting, offering a scalable route toward next-generation solar thermoelectric, photothermal, and thermal management technologies.

Perfect heat rectification and circulation with nonreciprocal radiative surfaces in the far field
Sina Jafari Ghalekohneh1, Bo Zhao
Abstract -- Controlling photon-mediated energy flow is central to the future of communications, thermal management, and energy harvesting technologies. Recent breakthroughs have revealed that many-body systems violating Lorentz reciprocity can sustain persistent photon heat current at thermal equilibrium, hinting at a paradigm of heat flow akin to superconductivity. Yet, the behavior of such systems far from equilibrium remains largely unexplored. In this work, we uncover the rich physics of radiative heat transfer in nonequilibrium, far-field many-body systems composed of thermal emitters that break Lorentz reciprocity. We show that the total heat flow naturally decomposes into two distinct components: an equilibrium term, which generates a persistent circulating heat current within the system, and a nonequilibrium term, which governs energy exchange with the environment. Remarkably, while the internal persistent heat current is ever-present, the nonequilibrium contribution can be precisely engineered to achieve perfect heat rectification and circulation. Our results open a route toward designing thermal systems with unprecedented control—unlocking the potential for lossless heat circulation and one-way thermal devices. This fundamentally shifts the landscape for next-generation thermal logic, energy conversion, and photonic heat engines.

Botanical sandcrete: An environment-friendly alternative way to the mass utilization of fine (desert) sand
Ren Wei a b, Tsukamoto Atsuki a, Guomin Ji , Yuya Sakai
Abstract -- The resource of desert sand is almost unlimited, but massive use of fine (desert) sand has not been explored globally. This study introduces Botanical SandCrete (BSC), an innovative material developed by hot-pressing ground fine sand powder, used as a substitute for the desert sand (DS), in combination with wood and without the use of cement. Various forming conditions, including temperature, mix proportions, pressure, and duration, were rigorously tested to assess their effects on the bending strength and density of BSC. Furthermore, five sand types, including desert sand, were analyzed for their influence on properties of BSC. Scanning Electron Microscopy offered a microscopic perspective on the formation of BSC. The research demonstrated the potential of DS as a sustainable construction material, with BSC satisfying Japanese Industrial Standards for pavement blocks under most conditions. DS has high fineness and alkalinity, which was previously seen as a disadvantage but it enhances bonding and performance in BSC applications. These findings lay the groundwork for large-scale use of the fine (desert) sand in construction applications. Moreover, future endeavours may investigate using agricultural waste as raw material, additional organic binder and solar energy as energy source in production of BSC, paving the way for more environmentally friendly construction materials, especially in desert regions.
